Wiz Khalifa Respectfully Declines Drake’s Offer

When an artist of Drake’s caliber expresses interest in having a fellow rap peer join an upcoming tour, most would leap at the opportunity. Not Wiz Khalifa though. The Atlantic Records signee politely declined the Toronto MC’s offer to have him jump aboard his “Lights Dreams and Nightmares” tour with the Clipse.

During Drake’s Ustream broadcast last week, the rapper shared his desire to have Khalifa perform alongside him during his new tour. The 22-year-old Pittsburgh native was honored but felt the idea was premature.

“Just the fact of cuz even extending his hand and me being on his radar is tight, to me,” Wiz told XXLMag.com. “It just lets me know that I’m doin’ what I need to be doin’ as far as stayin’ relevant and stayin’ poppin’. But I think to keep me poppin’ and keep me relevant I gotta stay buildin’ on top of what I’m doin’ and what I been doin’. No disrespect to cuz or anybody else who might wanna see me do some more collaborative things, but to keep buildin’ and keep my brand as strong as what it is, I gotta keep focusin’ on what it is.”

Wiz will embark on his own solo tour, titled “Waken Baken,” which hits more than 55 cities across the U.S. beginning in September. The Kush and Orange Juice mixtape creator hopes to successful complete that endeavor before collaborating with the likes of Drake. But he’s not totally nixing the idea.

“This is my first tour that I got comin’ up, the Waken Baken tour, I gotta at least kick that off and make that it what it is so we can do ten more,” he said. “I’m real happy for Drake and real proud of Drake. I was lookin’ on the Internet and [he] made $10 million this year. So maybe when I make $10 Million then we can tour.”

Drake Shows Off His Crib & Talks About R&B Mixtape

After reaching one million followers on Twitter, Drake checked in with his fans via Ustream from his Toronto condo overlooking the city. The Young Money Millionaire showed off his fancy chandelier, photos of Aaliyah and Alicia Keys on the wall, and even gave viewers a peek of his view from above.

Drizzy, sipping his “summer drink” of Pinot Grigio mixed with club soda, revealed the title of his upcoming R&B mixtape It’s Never Enough. “I never really make love ballads, like sappy love ballads,” he explained. “I try to make songs that everybody can feel comfortable listening to. So that’s coming out soon for free.”

He also announced the Welcome Home Weezy concert in November, flipped through some risqué photos in The Big Butt Book, provided an update on how his mother is doing after surgery, and called a bunch of super-excited fans.

Drake – “What If I Kissed You”

The hot topic of conversation in music industry circles as of late is Drake’s forthcoming R&B mixtape It’s Never Enough. Veteran crooner Tank confirmed that he received a call to do some work for the upcoming project, yet little else is known of what’s to come.

A track titled “What If I Kissed You” made its way around the blogosphere this month, sparking rumors that the song could possibly appear on the Toronto MC’s tape. However, it seems to only be a reference track Drizzy recorded with production duo Stargate. Check the Thank Me Later star on his crooning tip after the jump.

Diddy-Dirty Money Ft. Drake – “Love You No More”

Diddy-Dirty Money meets Young Money on “Loving You No More,” reportedly the next single from the oft-delayed Last Train to Paris. The track, previously leaked under the title “Hurt,” is the official mastered version of the candy sweet electro-R&B tune. And in a surprising change of roles, Diddy sings alongside Dirty Money members Dawn and Kalenna, while Drake handles the rap verse, spitting, “Trying not to over-think, only ’cause I drove and I done had a lot to drink.” He should have boarded the Last Train to Paris and saved himself the risk.

Pimp C Ft. Drake & Bun B – “What Up”

Though Houston’s Bun B has been carrying the UGK flag in the wake of his partner-in-rhyme’s passing, Pimp C is back like he never left. The late emcee is resurrected on his upcoming third solo album The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones, due October 5, with the first track giving a taste of the Southern goodness to expect on the joint. On the Boi-1da produced “What Up,” Pimp reunites with Bun and brings along “honorary resident of UGK town” Drake for the ride, spitting greasy bars over a tinny synth beat with popcorn snare drums and a tasty melody. And if this isn’t your speed, look out for other tracks on the album including “Dickies” featuring Bun B and drake-bun-b-what-up/#” target=”_blank”>Young Jeezy, “Midnight Hoes” featuring Rick Ross and “Get Down” featuring Devin the Dude. Looks like Pimp will get a chance to tell his girls to get down on the floor one more time.

Drake, Lloyd Banks, & Jazmine Sullivan Get Hyphy in the Bay

Though he was noticeably absent from the second night of Jay-Z and Eminem’s recent Detroit double-bill, Drake had good reason. The Toronto native headed over to Oakland, Calif., to headline KMEL’s Summer Jam 2010 at Oracle Arena on Saturday (Sept. 4), where he shared the stage with fellow performers Jazmine Sullivan, E-40, Lloyd Banks, Miguel, and more.

Rocking a varsity jacket, cargo pants, and shades, Drizzy showed Cali love by performing hits from his discography, removing his jacket near the end of his set and shouting “Free Weezy!”

Bay Area legend E-40 repped for his Sick Wid It Records imprint, donning a glittery chain that hung over his black tee, while a gorgeous Jazmine Sullivan sang her heart out during her set, looking sharp in a cropped teal jacket, shiny shirt, and ragged jeans.

Lloyd Banks added some NYC flavor to the lineup, taking the stage after newcomers Miguel, Dorrough, Bobby Brackins, YG, and R.O.D. Project warmed up the crowd. Summer may be nearing its end, but check the photos below to see how this group of performers heated things up.
